Personalised Photo Gifts UK: Ways to Turn a Photo into a Present
Looking for personalised photo gifts UK shoppers can order online without guessing how the picture will turn out? The trick is to choose the product to suit the photo, not the other way round. Below we match different kinds of pictures to the gifts they look best on, with prices and simple tips for getting your photo print-ready, all printed to order in our North Yorkshire workshop.
Start with the photo, then pick the product
Most of us scroll through our camera roll, find a favourite, then try to squeeze it onto whatever gift we had in mind. It works far better in reverse. Ask yourself three quick questions first:
- What shape is it? A tall portrait shot, a wide landscape or a square crop each suit different products.
- How busy is it? A detailed scene with lots of colour is perfect for a jigsaw, while one clear face works better on a light or a mug.
- Where will it live? On a desk, by the bed, in the kitchen cupboard or on the coffee table on a rainy Sunday.
Once you know those answers, the right gift usually picks itself.
Photo gifts matched to the picture you have
A favourite family or holiday shot: Acrylic Photo Block, from £19.99
For the picture that deserves pride of place, our freestanding acrylic photo block with your photo and a short message stands on its own with no frame needed. It comes in three sizes: 10 x 15 cm at £19.99, 15 x 15 cm at £22.99 and 15 x 20 cm at £26.99. It's printed edge-to-edge with white ink and gloss for vivid colour, using a scratch-resistant direct UV print.
Photo tip: the 15 x 15 cm size is square, so a wide beach photo will lose its edges. Pick 10 x 15 cm or 15 x 20 cm for portrait or landscape shots, and save the square size for photos where everyone is bunched in the middle.
One face that lights up a room: LED Acrylic Night Light, from £24.99
The personalised LED night light with a photo and name on an acrylic panel slots into a USB-powered base. Choose the warm white base at £24.99 or the colour-changing base at £29.99. A white ink layer gives an engraved-style look when it's lit, which makes it a gentle bedside light for a child or a quiet memorial light for someone you miss.
Photo tip: a close-up with one clear subject and a plain background tends to read best when lit. Crowded group shots can get lost.
A busy, colourful scene: Photo Jigsaws, from £11.99
Jigsaws are the one place where a cluttered photo is a good thing, because detail gives every piece something to match. Our A4 80-piece photo jigsaw with your picture and a message is £14.99 and is a friendly puzzle to finish together on a coffee table. For proper puzzle fans, the A3 300-piece pearl finish photo puzzle is £19.99, and a wedding photo or a favourite view makes a satisfying challenge.
For little ones, the 30-piece kids jigsaw with their own name and photo is £11.99 and measures 24 x 19 cm. Seeing their own face appear is half the fun.
Photo tip: for the kids version, go the other way and keep it simple. A big, bright face and their name helps small hands work out where pieces go.
An everyday photo for an everyday cuppa: Photo Mugs, £8.99
The classic 11oz personalised mug with any image and text you choose is £8.99. It suits pets, family snaps and inside jokes, using images you own.
Want a bit of theatre? The colour-changing photo mug in black or red is also £8.99. It starts out plain, then slowly reveals your photo and message as a hot drink is poured in. Hand it over with a teabag already inside and watch their face.
Photo tip: a mug wraps around, so keep faces near the centre of the picture and leave a little breathing space at each side.
The photo that goes with "your song": Our Song Acrylic Plaque, from £17.99
Couples' photos have a natural home on the personalised Our Song acrylic plaque with your photo, song title and names. Add the track title, the artist and your names to our own music player style design. It's £17.99 for A5 with stand or £24.99 for A4 with stand, so it's ready to display straight from the box. A first-dance photo is the obvious choice for an anniversary.

Getting your photo print-ready
We print your photo exactly as it's uploaded, so a few minutes of checking makes all the difference:
- Use the original file. Upload straight from your phone or camera rather than a screenshot or a copy forwarded through a messaging app, as those are often shrunk and lose detail.
- Don't zoom in too far. If you've cropped a tiny face out of a big group photo, it may look soft when printed larger.
- Choose clear, well-lit shots. Daylight photos usually print brighter than dim indoor ones.
- Mind the edges. Leave a little space around heads so nothing important gets trimmed.
- Check spelling. Names and messages are printed exactly as you type them.

Frequently asked questions
What kind of photo works best for a personalised photo gift?
A clear, well-lit original photo. Busy, detailed pictures suit jigsaws, while single close-ups suit night lights and mugs.
Can I add a message as well as a photo?
Yes. The acrylic photo block, jigsaws and colour-changing mug all take a message, the night light takes a name, and the Our Song plaque takes a song title, artist and names.
Which acrylic photo block size should I choose?
The 15 x 15 cm size suits square crops. Choose 10 x 15 cm or 15 x 20 cm for portrait or landscape photos.
Where are your photo gifts made?
Every piece is made to order in-house in North Yorkshire, with fast UK dispatch. Check the dispatch information on the product page when you order.
